He performed his undergraduate studies in Human Biology at the University of Tennessee. He then received his doctorate and master’s degrees from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Zitt received training in functional medicine and clinical nutrition through the Institute for Functional Medicine and Apex Energetics. Dr. Zitt specializes in determining the root cause for sub-optimal health and implementing natural strategies to overcome those challenges. His unrelenting pursuit of knowledge blends perfectly with his calling to help people optimize their health.
Dr. Zitt’s love of functional medicine began while searching for solutions to his own acute and chronic complaints. He sought a functional medicine physician and began following his own personal lifestyle plan. Immediately, he experienced a significant decrease in headaches. Within weeks, the chronic fatigue and anxiety dramatically improved. Ultimately, he was able to completely avoid a gastrointestinal surgery. His overall physical health improved tremendously, and the mental benefits were just as profound. Experiencing such drastic results launched his pursuit to become a functional medicine practitioner. Since that time, he has completed over 200 hours of course work in functional medicine and clinical nutrition and is currently pursuing his Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) designation. Dr. Zitt feels a deep sense of responsibility to share his knowledge with the people that he connects with. He is on a mission to serve as a guiding light to improve the health and well-being of the people in his physical and virtual community.
Dr. Zitt absolutely adores his wife Melissa and their son Elijah. The three of them have made their home in Knoxville, Tennessee, which is nestled at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains and surrounded by beautiful lakes. The East Tennessee landscape allows Dr. Zitt to enjoy his favorite activities such as hiking, backpacking, boating, exercising, and exploring with his friends and family. The 3 Z’s travel as much as they can as well. They enjoy spending time in other cultures and exposing their son to different ways of life.
