"MycoTOX Profile" Test Preparation Guide
The MycoTOX Profile Test is completed in the comfort of your home using a collection kit that is mailed to you by The Great Plains Laboratory. For a simple and effective experience, follow the instructions below.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

- Test Requisition Form. Mailed to you by the lab. This must be completed in its entirety and sent in with your specimen.
- Mailing materials. Mailed to you by the lab. A prepaid FedEx mailer and box to ship your sample to the lab.
PREPARE FOR YOUR TEST
- Avoid binders such as charcoal or bentonite clay for 72 hours.
- If you are taking mycophenolate mofetil (CellCept/Myfortic): please check the box on the requisition form by the test selection for MycoTOX Profile to inform laboratory personnel and help prevent sample errors.
- Menstruating Females: Do not collect sample during your menstruating cycle.
- Freeze the included gel ice pack.
- Limit liquids. Limit liquid intake starting at 6pm the night prior to collection to avoid sample dilution. Urine must be yellow in color. If urine is clear, the sample is too diluted.
- Fill out the Test Requisition Form completely.
- Complete collection cup information. Print your full name, time and collection date on the side of the urine cup (and amber tube and blue specimen vial if provided).
COLLECT YOUR URINE SPECIMEN
- Collect urine. In the collection cup provided (do no use any other container), collect 10ml of your first morning urine. Collect prior to eating or drinking.
- If sample is clear (not yellow): If urine is clear, it is too diluted. Discard diluted sample, rinse the collection cup in hot water only (no soap), air dry cup, then re-collect the following morning. Be sure to limit liquids the night before to avoid a diluted sample.
- Freeze sample. After collection, screw lid on tightly. Freeze urine specimen for a minimum of 4 hours prior to shipping. Keep in freezer until ready to ship.
